UPCSA – MODERATOR’S MESSAGE FOR THE HOLY WEEK UP TO EASTER

TO ALL IN THE UPCSA

Dear Fellow Ministers and Servants

“After singing a hymn (of Thanksgiving), they stood up and went to the Mount of Olives ” – Mark 14:26

During this Holy Week of 2022, let us sing the Hymn of Thanksgiving – Psalm 118 – that Jesus invoked in preparation for what lay ahead – prosecution, crucifixion, burial, and resurrection.

Let us sing the song of Thanksgiving in spite of the pain and trauma that awaits us. Let us sing the song of Thanksgiving in spite of the losses that we have incurred through COVID as Ministers and the leadership of the UPCSA. Let us sing the song of Thanksgiving the deep words of which will help us through Getsemane.

The song of Thanksgiving will carry us through Pontius Pilate and the whole mysterious and aura-filled drama of crucifixion and burial through to resurrection. The song of Thanksgiving will give us the strength, the resolution to stay the course, the everlasting hope. The song of Thanksgiving will help us to hang in there for what our faith is worth.

Moderator of the UPCSA General Assembly
