We need to get the idea that being a Christ-follower is not about what you know about the Bible.
It is all about how the Scripture transforms your life.
The last three words are the key idea.
“transform” – God via Scripture does not merely change you – God transforms you. Completely. Entirely. But it is God who does it as we allow our lives to be impacted by the Gospel.
St. Paul says it to the Roman church: “”Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.(12:1-3) If you are the same Christ-follower as you were 5 years ago then how have you grown in Christ?
“Your” – why worry about what God is doing in the lives of other people? You have your own life to transform. Worry about your transformation. Leave others’ up to God. It’s not your job to make someone read the Bible more; or to make someone more spiritual; or to un-gay someone else; or to make someone else’s children better.
There is more than enough in your own life to work on.
“life” – it’s no just your “heart” that needs to change, but your whole being, body soul, mind, heart. Let Christ in to every part of your life. How you see other people and how you vote are under the Lordship of Christ just as much as what you eat, drink, wear, and say.
Place your whole life in the hands of Christ.
God transforms your life. Amen.
